William W. Vertes, Attorney at Law

William Vertes is a principal of the firm with extensive, broad-based experience in medical malpractice litigation, birth trauma defense, and healthcare law. He also leads the firm’s medical marijuana practice.

Since joining the firm in 1983, Mr. Vertes has defended hospitals and physicians in multiple high profile and substantial damage trials. Over his career, he has also represented physicians in employment disputes, handled corporate compliance matters, represented hospitals facing Medicaid Audits, and served as an arbitrator on several Alternative Dispute Resolution panels. His current practice includes working with various healthcare organizations, physician groups, state and local authorities, and diverse business practices to comply with and develop policies regarding the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act.

In addition to his distinguished legal practice, Mr. Vertes frequently lectures to physicians, hospital executive and business groups across the state of Michigan on various medical malpractice and healthcare topics. He is licensed to practice law in Michigan, as well as the United States District Court Eastern District of Michigan.

Mr. Vertes is AV peer review rated by LexisNexis/Martindale Hubbell. The AV peer review rating is the highest rating allowed. It attests to a lawyer’s legal ability and professional ethics, and reflects the confidential opinions of the Bar and Judiciary.

Mr. Vertes received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He earned a B.A. with honors in Political Science from Michigan State University.

Graham Wallis, Professor, Horticulture 1010

Graham Lowe is a seasoned professional with over 10 years of horticulture experience. He has been recognized by the Michigan State Bar association as an expert witness for a case dealing with medical marijuana. Graham has amassed a deep knowledge of what it takes to maximize medicinal cannabis performance. He takes the Med Grow Cannabis College program to new heights as he presents the best methods of horticulture training while enlightening students. He teaches diversified growth scenarios to meet the needs of the patient and caregiver and their unique situations.

Graham has set new standards for classroom involvement, thus allowing for Med Grow Cannabis College students to graduate with a greater knowledge of cannabis cultivation. Graham ensures that graduating students have the tools necessary for successful horticulture growth in his expansive class.

Henry Schulz, M.B.A

Henry has an extensive background in finance and business.  He was Vice President of a local bank  for several  years.  He holds a Bachelors degree from Ferris University and an MBA from Central Michigan University.

He is presently the operations and finance officer for a small corporation.  He also owns and operates his own small business.

Perry Belcher, Professor, History 1010

Perry has worked in media all of his life. He was also one of the first 500 patients in the State of Michigan to obtain his patient ID card. Since the Michigan Medical Marijuana act of 2008 was passed, he has become compelled to direct positive media attention to the Michigan medical marijuana movement.

At Med Grow College, Perry teaches the History of Cannabis. His unique knowledge enlightens students on how media manipulation and political corruption has lead to many misconceptions among the American public.

Matthew R. Abel, Attorney at Law

Matthew R. Abel has been a criminal defense lawyer with a special focus on marijuana cases for more than 20 years.

Mr. Abel’s Detroit-based law office capably handles marijuana possession, trafficking and distribution cases throughout the state of Michigan. His marijuana-specific practice areas include smuggling issues on the U.S.-Canadian border, asset forfeiture that victimizes clients and questionable drug testing procedures.

When he is not passionately advocating for the rights of doctors, patients, cultivators and caregivers, Matthew R. Abel is an equally passionate activist for changes in marijuana laws. His quest for justice for marijuana defendants led to his participation in the political process as a Green Party candidate. Mr. Abel has stood for public office six times in Michigan.

Brent Jones is a certified public accountant with 7 years of public accounting experience. He graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelors in accounting and an MBA from Wayne State University. He works closely with business owners providing financial consulting, develop tax strategies to minimize taxes and preserve wealth.
